If you sign up to my email list your name and email address will be collected by MailerLite. I use MailerLite to manage my email subscriber list and to send emails to my subscribers. MailerLite is a third-party provider, which may process your data using industry standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my newsletter.

MailerLite’s privacy policy is available at https://www.mailerlite.com/privacy-policy.

You can unsubscribe from my email list by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided at the end of each newsletter.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site the data shown in the comments form is collected, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, articles etc. Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics which is one of the most widespread and trusted analytics solution on the web to help me understand how you use the site and ways that I can improve your experience. These cookies may track things such as how long you spend on the site and the pages that you visit so I can continue to produce engaging content. This data is tracked anonymously.

For more information on Google Analytics cookies, see the official Google Analytics page.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on the website (if any), personal information provided in their user profile will also be saved. You can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except you cannot change their username). As website administrator I can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that I erase any personal data held about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service called Akismet. The information collected typically includes a commenters IP address, user agent, referrer, and site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

As mentioned above anonymised data about how you use this site will be sent to Google Analytics, and if you sign-up to my email list your name and email address will be sent to MailerLite.

Disclosure

The tools, courses, books, apps and other products featured on this site are based on my own experience and recommendations. The majority have been purchased by me and I write about them because I genuinely believe they will benefit you.

From time to time I may accept a discount or sponsorship on my blog or social media accounts. This is always made clear to you. Rest assured I never review or write about products I don’t use myself and wouldn’t recommend whether I was paid or not!

The site also contains some affiliate links, which means if you make a purchase after following these links I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. Howver, again, I only recommend products, courses, tools, apps or sites which I use myself and recommend.

All payments go towards running this blog, G&T and enabling me to spend more time at home with my daughter instead of in the office.

If you have any questions about these policies please contact me at emma[at]emmalouisesmith[dot]com.
